Love Types
Different
levels of passion, intimacy and commitment in relationships
produce a number of common patterns of love.
High passion with low I
intimacy or commitment is characteristic of "romantic
love". The relationship is probably still in its
early stages with both partners feeling they are "in
love".
Fluctuating passion combined with the development
of intimacy and commitment typifies a more stable relationship
known as "mature love".
When intimacy continues with little passion and commitment,
the relationship is hardly more than friendship. This is characteristic
of "open" relationships in which partners have
a high degree of freedom.
Where passion and intimacy are lost but commitment
continues, the relationship has become "empty love".
